After-Hours Emergency Clinics

If your animal needs immediate care when our clinic is closed, please don’t wait. Use the resources on this page to find emergency veterinary care in the region as quickly as possible.

Signs Your Pet May Need Emergency Care

Some symptoms require immediate attention—don’t wait for your regular vet if your pet is experiencing any of the following:

Breathing and circulation

  • Difficulty breathing, labored respiration, or choking
  • Pale, white, blue, or grayish gums
  • Rapid or irregular heartbeat
  • Collapse or loss of consciousness

Trauma and injury

  • Injuries from vehicle accidents, falls, or animal attacks
  • Uncontrolled or heavy bleeding
  • Suspected broken bones or severe lameness
  • Eye injuries or sudden vision changes

Neurological symptoms

  • Seizures or repeated convulsions
  • Sudden loss of coordination or inability to stand
  • Severe disorientation or unresponsiveness

Digestive and urinary emergencies

  • Suspected ingestion of toxins, medications, or foreign objects
  • Repeated vomiting or diarrhea with signs of pain or blood
  • Bloated, hard, or visibly distended abdomen
  • Straining to urinate or producing no urine—especially in male cats, where urinary blockage can become life-threatening quickly

Other urgent signs

  • Severe or sudden-onset pain
  • Body temperature extremes (heatstroke or hypothermia)
  • Inability to eat, drink, or move after an injury

When in doubt, call ahead to an emergency clinic and describe what you’re seeing. A brief phone call can help you determine how quickly your pet needs to be seen.
